India has been designated the ‘Country of the Year’ at BIOFACH 2026, the world’s leading trade fair for organic products, being held from February 10–13, 2026, in Nuremberg, Germany. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is leading India’s prominent participation, highlighting the country’s rich agricultural heritage and growing position as a major global supplier of organic produce.
India’s National Pavilion, spread across 1,074 square meters, features 67 co-exhibitors including exporters, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), cooperatives, organic laboratories, state government bodies, and commodity boards. The pavilion is showcasing a diverse range of organic products such as rice, oilseeds, herbs, spices, pulses, cashew, ginger, turmeric, large cardamom, cinnamon, mango puree, and essential oils.
More than 20 states and Union Territories—including Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand—are participating, reflecting India’s vast agricultural diversity and the rising global demand for its organic exports.
Visitors to the Indian pavilion will also experience curated tastings of premium organic products, including aromatic biryani made from organic basmati rice and spices, along with five GI-tagged traditional rice varieties—Indrayani, Navara, Govindbhog, Red Rice, and Chak Hao (black rice).
APEDA has also undertaken extensive branding and promotional activities across the Nuremberg Messe Exhibition Centre to mark India’s recognition as ‘Country of the Year.’ As global focus intensifies on sustainable development and environmentally responsible lifestyles, India’s featured participation at BIOFACH 2026 reinforces its position as a leading force in organic agriculture, committed to supplying high-quality, sustainably produced organic products that meet international standards.
