New Delhi, February 28: The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) JMI Student Branch, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has proudly hosted its annual flagship event HACKATHON, HackJMI, on February 24th and 25th, 2024 at the university. The event brought together budding innovators, technologists, and enthusiasts from across Country for an exhilarating show and presentation of technical geekery and problem-solving skills.
The hackathon commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, setting a tone of reverence. HackJMI, a moment of reflection and spiritual connection served as a reminder of the values of integrity and inclusivity that underpin our community. Following the recitation, the talented members of IEEE JMI treated the audience to a spirited rendition of the Jamia Tarana, infusing the atmosphere with vibrancy and showcasing the rich heritage of the University.
Distinguished guests were then felicitated, including Dr. Ahteshamul Haque, the esteemed Branch Counsellor, whose unwavering support and guidance have been instrumental in shaping the success of IEEE-JMI. The Chief Guest, Dr. Anil Kumar, Director of MNRE, Government of India, graced the occasion with his presence, officially declaring the HackJMI event open with an inspiring address. Dr. Kumar emphasized the pivotal role of innovation in addressing contemporary challenges and driving societal progress that set the stage for an exciting two days of collaboration and brainstorm.
Mr. Preet Yadav, Chair of IEEE CASS Delhi Chapter, added valuable insights as a Special Guest, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in the rapidly evolving technological landscape. His remarks underscored the inclusive ethos of HackJMI, where participants from diverse backgrounds come together to explore innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Prof. Mini S Thomas, Dean of Faculty of Engineering & Technology, JMI, shared her perspective on the intersection of academia and industry, emphasizing the institution's commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
Throughout the event, participants engaged with sponsors and industry experts, gaining valuable insights into emerging technologies and industry uptrends. The diverse themes of the HackJMI Hackathon, including Cybersecurity, FinTech, Blockchain, IoT, AR/VR, Open Innovation, Education, Viksit Bharat 2047, and more, provided participants with an ultimate wide range of challenges to tackle and opportunities to explore.
Cultural diversity was celebrated through a captivating Gujarati traditional dance performance by IEEE JMI students, showcasing the rich diversity and beauty of India’s heritage and fostering cross- cultural understanding among distinct participants. Total 68 Teams participated in the event from all across India.
HackJMI 2024 not only served as a platform for technological innovation but also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among aspiring technologists. The event’s success underscores the commitment of IEEE JMI Student Branch to nurturing the next generation of innovators and problem solvers, driving positive change in society.
