Amid the four-day Diwali festival break, Rajasthan has announced another holiday this month. However, this government holiday will only apply to certain districts. Rajasthan will hold bypolls for seven assembly seats on November 13, and a public holiday has been declared on the day of voting. The bypolls will be conducted in Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Khinwsar, Chaurasi, Salumber, and Ramgarh seats on November 13, for which the Election Commission has declared a holiday in the respective assembly constituencies. The following assembly constituency numbers will observe a holiday: Constituency No. 27–Jhunjhunu district, No. 67–Ramgarh (Alwar district), No. 88–Dausa (Dausa district), No. 97–Deoli-Uniara (Tonk district), No. 110–Khinwsar (Nagaur district), No. 156–Salumber (Udaipur district), and No. 161–Chaurasi (Dungarpur district).
In the electoral contest, a total of 69 candidates, including 10 women, are vying for these seats. Last year, there were 74 candidates, including two women, contesting for these seats. In this bypoll, all constituencies except Deoli-Uniara have female candidates in the race. Salumber has the fewest candidates, with only six—three women and three men. Both the Congress and BJP have fielded female candidates in Salumber.
