With the onset of the monsoon season, health experts have warned about a rise in diseases such as H1N1, Dengue, Malaria, typhoid, flu, viral fever, leptospirosis, and hepatitis.
SRV Mamata Hospital reported cases including two dengue patients, two malaria patients, and one swine flu case, highlighting growing concerns over seasonal infections during the monsoon.
According to data shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for the month of July, Mumbai recorded 8 dengue cases, 146 malaria cases, 467 gastroenteritis cases, 138 hepatitis cases, and 21 leptospirosis cases.
Nirmaldutta Thakur said intermittent rains create favourable conditions for mosquito breeding, increasing the risk of dengue and malaria. He advised people to avoid stagnant water around homes, wear full-sleeved clothing, and use insect repellents as preventive measures.
Vikrant Shah noted that vector-borne infections such as H1N1, dengue, and malaria have started increasing with the arrival of the monsoon in Mumbai. He added that several patients reported atypical symptoms, including throat irritation and acute breathlessness, even in the absence of fever.
