New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday felicitated the winners of the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 and the National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025 at a समारोह held in the national capital, marking National Energy Conservation Day.
Observed annually, National Energy Conservation Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of energy efficiency and to highlight India’s progress in energy conservation initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said that energy conservation is no longer an option but a necessity in today’s world. She emphasised that every unit of energy saved reflects responsibility towards nature and concern for future generations.
The President highlighted India’s achievements in energy conservation and clean energy transition, noting that the country has met several of its clean energy commitments ahead of schedule, which is a significant milestone towards decarbonisation and sustainable development.
Union Minister for Power Manohar Lal, who was also present at the event, congratulated the NECA 2025 winners and described the awards as a reflection of how development and environmental conservation can progress together. He also lauded the participation in the National Painting Competition, noting that over 83 lakh students from more than 1.10 lakh schools across the country took part in the competition.
