Mumbai, 29 September 2021: Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, announced that its aerospace division, Godrej Aerospace, has delivered the 200th set of stealth universal supersonic cruise missile airframe assemblies to BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. (BAPL). This milestone further enhances India’s national security and reflects the country’s commitment to self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
Each BrahMos missile airframe consists of 138 complex subassemblies made from over 1,500 parts. The handover ceremony was conducted virtually, with key representatives from Godrej & Boyce, BrahMos Aerospace, Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL), and Missile Systems Quality Assurance Agency (MSQAA) in attendance.
Anil Verma, Executive Director & President of Godrej & Boyce, expressed pride in the achievement, highlighting the teamwork among all stakeholders. “This milestone embodies our dedication to national security and the Make-in-India vision. We look forward to scaling up production and supporting BrahMos, MSQAA, and DRDO in future endeavors.”
Dr. Sudhir Mishra, Distinguished Scientist and Director General of BrahMos Aerospace, praised Godrej Aerospace as a key partner and emphasized the strategic significance of this collaboration for India’s advanced missile production capabilities.
The BrahMos missile is a stealth supersonic cruise missile capable of being launched from ships, submarines, aircraft, and land platforms. Renowned for its precision strike ability on both land and sea targets, it can travel at speeds exceeding Mach 2.8, maintain a low altitude during flight, and operates as a ‘fire and forget’ weapon system.
Godrej Aerospace has been integral to the BrahMos program since 2001, manufacturing most metallic sub-systems including the main airframe, control surfaces, and nose caps. Its sister division, Godrej Precision Engineering, also supplies Mobile Autonomous Launchers and Missile Replenishing Vehicles for land-launched versions.
