The Fifth International Conference on Emerging Techniques in Computational Intelligence (ICETCI 2025) held at Mahindra University brought together leading minds from academia and industry to discuss breakthroughs in Deep Learning, Sequence Modelling and General Topics in Computational Intelligence.
The conference began with a day focused on tutorial sessions and workshops, offering attendees practical insights into new computational techniques. This hands-on approach provided a wealth of knowledge and understanding, setting the stage for the following two days of keynote lectures and technical paper presentations.
Highlighting that India’s independence in defence and aerospace materials depends on innovation at the intersection of materials science and artificial intelligence, Chief Guest, Dr Sanjay Kumar Jha, Former Chairman and Managing Director, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), said, “Computation Intelligence is playing a crucial role in transforming traditional industries like materials engineering. It can shorten development cycles of materials from decades to just a few years. Integration of computational intelligence with advanced sensors, IoT and robotics also plays a significant role in advanced manufacturing units. With the rapid pace of technological change in computational intelligence, combining domain expertise in engineering with AI/ML techniques and skilling is vital.”
“The potential of computational intelligence can be fully realised through collaboration. Academia, industry, and government each bring unique strengths to the table. Academia contributes research and talent, industry brings application and scale, and government enables policy and infrastructure. Together, they can harness computational intelligence to drive innovation, enhance competitiveness, and ensure responsible growth that benefits businesses, economies, and society at large,” emphasised Guest of Honour, Mr. Vishal Sharma, President, Deloitte Consulting USA (India). “Agentic AI is going to be the biggest accelerator in the business side” he added.
According to Dr. Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor, Mahindra University, “The conference provides a platform to exchange ideas, explore applications, and inspire innovation that addresses real-world challenges. It reaffirms our focus on interdisciplinary education, experiential learning, nurturing next-generation researchers and innovators.”
During the conference, papers were presented by scholars from 50+ institutes, including leading Indian institutions such as the IITs, IIITs, and NITs. Keynote speeches were delivered by internationally acclaimed specialists including Prof. Chandrajit Bajaj, University of Texas at Austin, USA, Prof. Kalyanmoy Deb, Michigan State University, USA, Prof. Akira Hirose, University of Tokyo, Japan,
Dr. Sameer Jain, Partner Group Engineering Manager, Microsoft India Development Center, India, Dr. Jeff Adie, Distinguished Engineer, NVIDIA Corporation, Singapore. The valedictory lecture was delivered by Dr. Radhika Mamidi from IIIT Hyderabad, underscoring the role of computational intelligence in shaping the future of natural language processing.
