Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) graduates from the Faculty of Dentistry (FOD), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) shine again in the national level Master of Dental Surgery(MDS) entrance examination conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS). 4 graduates of FOD cleared the entrance test including the 2nd topper. A total of 15 graduates from FOD cleared various national level MDS entrance tests this year.
Dr. Vartika Chaddha bagged the 2nd rank in the AIIMS entrance exam while Dr. Sehrish Khan and Dr. Tanya Batra have secured 11th and 12th ranks respectively. Dr. Mohammad Arshad bagged the 8th rank in the OBC category of the same exam.
Earlier this year, students from FOD had performed extremely well in the NEET – PG examination for MDS admissions at various government colleges in India also.
Dr. Jaya Panday (Rank 59) and Dr. Zainab Kamal (Rank 82) have both secured MDS seat in Periodontics at Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi. Dr. Radhika Gupta (Rank 180) has also been selected for MDS in Public Health Dentistry at the same institute. Dr. Vasundhara Prakash (Rank 306) was selected for MDS in Periodontics at GDC, Jaipur.
Dr. Sayema Bashir was selected at R. Ahmed Dental College, Kolkata and Dr. Tabassum at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) for MDS in Oral Pathology. Dr. Sukesh Kumar secured a MDS seat in Endodontics at Post Graduate Institute (PGI), Rohtak.
Students who have joined MDS this year in private colleges include Dr. Ayesha Ansari (Endodontics in Subharti Dental College), Dr. Shakir Khan (Endodontics in Sri Bankey Bihari Dental College), Dr. Farheen Ahmad and Dr. Neetu Pandey (Periodontics at Kothiwal Dental College).
Prof Dr. Sanjay Singh, Dean, FOD, JMI has congratulated all the students who have worked hard to achieve this success and has encouraged future MDS aspirants to follow suit. He said that students’ achievements always bring great joy to the faculty and more so this year as it is the highest number of students clearing the MDS entrance examinations (11 in government colleges and 4 in private colleges) in a single year.
Students are the life line of any institute and the ones at FOD, JMI have made their university proud by their achievements consistently, he added.
