A viral post on X has alleged that IAS officer Ria Dabi received a national water conservation award despite a wedding invitation card being uploaded on a government portal meant for documenting river rejuvenation work. The claim has now been officially refuted by the Udaipur district administration.
What the Viral Post Claimed
The social media post suggested that a wedding card image was uploaded instead of photographs of water conservation work for Kookara Kheda village in Gogunda block, Udaipur, on the Jal Shakti Ministry’s monitoring portal. The post further implied that the alleged lapse may have influenced the award decision.
The claim quickly gained traction online, with users questioning data integrity on the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) tracking system and drawing parallels with past administrative controversies.
District Administration Issues Clarification
Responding to the allegations, the District Magistrate of Udaipur termed the viral claim misleading and factually incorrect.
According to the official clarification, the award received by the Zila Parishad CEO had no linkage to images uploaded on the JSA Central Tracking and Reporting (CTR) portal. The administration clarified that the incorrect image upload was a clerical error at the panchayat level, carried out by a staff member and not by the officer concerned.
Error Acknowledged, Data Corrected
Officials stated that the incorrect image was promptly removed and updated photographs of the actual water conservation structure were uploaded. The district administration also released fresh images and ground details to counter misinformation circulating online.
How the Award Was Decided
The administration stressed that water conservation awards are granted based on multiple independent evaluation parameters, including physical verification, field performance, and public participation metrics. Portal uploads alone do not determine eligibility or outcomes.
