The Delhi Government has pledged its support to the Events and Entertainment Industry and partnered with the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) to help position Delhi as a global cultural hub.
Speaking as Chief Guest at the EEMAX Global Awards 2019, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia acknowledged the growing contribution of the events industry to both the economy and employment. He noted that the sector contributes approximately ₹2.5 lakh crore to the Indian economy and supports more than 15 lakh jobs in Delhi alone.
Earlier, EEMA President Sanjoy Roy highlighted the industry's rapid growth and urged the government to address operational challenges faced by event professionals. He emphasized the industry's willingness to work closely with the Delhi Government to transform the city into a globally recognized cultural destination.
Responding to the industry's concerns, Sisodia said the events and entertainment sector plays a significant role in boosting economic activity and creating employment opportunities. He stressed the need for governance reforms to support the industry, including the creation of a single-window clearance system for event permissions, reducing the need to obtain approvals from multiple agencies.
He also announced that the Delhi Government is working with EEMA to establish an Event Management Skill Institute aimed at developing skilled professionals for the industry.
The EEMAX Global Awards 2019 were held on August 3 at A.Dot, following the two-day EEMAGINE 2019 convention at Pullman Aerocity. The awards recognized excellence across a wide range of categories, including corporate, sporting, wedding, social, exhibition, design, marketing, and digital integration events.
Celebrating a decade of excellence, EEMAX Global Awards continued its tradition of recognizing outstanding talent and innovation across India's events and entertainment industry, while introducing a special category for budget projects in its 2019 edition.
