Energy Minister Shri Hiralal Nagar has directed the state’s power distribution companies to make proper arrangements in advance to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to farmers during the upcoming Rabi season. He emphasized that all necessary measures must be taken on time to strengthen the power infrastructure.
On Wednesday, Shri Nagar reviewed Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Ajmer power distribution companies (DISCOMs) through video conferencing from Vidyut Bhawan. He instructed the managing directors of DISCOMs to prepare an action plan to reduce power losses. Shri Nagar said DISCOMs should identify high-loss areas, implement effective measures to minimize them, and ensure close monitoring. He also directed that defective meters be replaced, illegal transformers be seized, and vigilance activities be intensified, along with strengthening the power system in high-loss feeders. He added that disciplinary action should be taken against engineers who show negligence in achieving loss-reduction targets.
The Energy Minister further said that in order to improve the public image of DISCOMs, it is essential to ensure uninterrupted power supply, provide applicants with electricity connections easily, and deliver efficient Fault Repair Team (FRT) services during no-current situations. He instructed that pending electricity connections older than a month be cleared immediately and warned that disciplinary action would be taken against employees who unnecessarily delay issuing connections.
Shri Nagar also directed that biometric attendance of FRT staff be ensured. For better functioning of the FRT service, he instructed regular inspection of FRT vehicles and GPS-based tracking of these vehicles. During the meeting, he also reviewed the work being carried out under the RDSS scheme across the three DISCOMs, including meter replacement and other activities.
During the review, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Shri Ajitabh Sharma instructed the DISCOMs to study best practices from other states to reduce losses and ensure improved electricity supply to consumers.
DISCOMs record highest revenue in four years in July
DISCOMs Chairperson Ms. Arti Dogra made a presentation on behalf of all three companies. She informed that in July this year, the DISCOMs achieved the highest revenue in the last four years. She further said that by July this financial year, the three companies had issued 1,99,000 domestic electricity connections. Jodhpur DISCOM Managing Director Dr. Bhanwarlal and Ajmer DISCOM Managing Director Shri K.P. Verma also apprised about the progress in their respective regions.
