Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday said that dairy production should be developed as a strong foundation for expanding industrial activities in Madhya Pradesh. He emphasized that dairy production, processing, and marketing hold immense potential for employment generation while also playing a crucial role in increasing farmers’ income.
The Chief Minister issued these directions during a meeting of the State-Level Steering Committee, constituted under the agreement between the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The meeting was held at Samatva Bhavan, Chief Minister’s residence, and was attended by senior MLA Hemant Khandelwal, Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretary Manish Rastogi, Principal Secretary (Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development) Umakant Umrao, and officials of the NDDB.
Dr. Yadav directed that dairy-related activities be implemented in a coordinated manner across all districts and that the Sanchi brand be expanded to the maximum extent. He also instructed that cow and cattle rearers (Gopal) be prominently integrated into the branding of Sanchi products to strengthen their rural and cultural connect.
Highlighting the importance of dairy farming in enhancing farmers’ income, the Chief Minister said that activities aimed at improving farmers’ skills and capacities should be conducted up to the village level to promote dairy production. He stressed the need for strong monitoring of milk collection systems, ensuring that procurement prices remain remunerative for producers. Transparency in procurement processes and timely payments to milk producers must be strictly ensured, he added.
Dr. Yadav further directed that dairy production activities be expanded through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, with active coordination between private players and dairy cooperative societies. He said this approach would promote entrepreneurship across the state, increase farmers’ income, and provide momentum to the state’s economy.
