
In view of the Corona virus pandemic, Ministry of Labour and Employment has issued an advisory to all employers of Public and Private establishments to not cut salaries or resort to layoffs of their employees. In a letter to Secretary of Department of Public Enterprises, Labour and Employment Secretary Heeralal Samariya said, if any worker takes leave, he should be deemed to be in duty without any consequential deduction in wages for this period.
He said, if the place of employment is to be made non-operational due to COVID-19, the employees of such unit will be deemed to be on duty. The Ministry has asked Department of Public Enterprises to issue necessary advisory in this regard.
Another advisory has been issued by the Labour Ministry to all the employers of Public and Private establishments to coordinate by not terminating their employees, particularly casual or contractual workers from job or reduce their wages.
