Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed cooperative institutions to intensify efforts to empower farmers and strengthen rural credit systems. Reviewing the functioning of the Cooperation Department on Wednesday, the Chief Minister announced that 2026 will be celebrated as Agriculture and Farmers’ Year across the state.
Dr. Yadav emphasised that the core role of cooperative bodies is to improve farmers' economic conditions and ensure transparent access to essential services. He instructed officials to prioritise the computerisation of cooperative societies to streamline operations, enhance transparency, and deliver time-bound support to farmers.
The Chief Minister also called for establishing PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies) at the panchayat level and directed that annual property disclosures be made mandatory for committee office-bearers.
