
E-Cell, Jamia Millia Islamia, along with the Institution’s Innovation Council, Jamia Millia Islamia, conducted a webinar under the aegis of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, JMI on the 8th of March titled, “Breaking Shackles and Defeating Odds-The women entrepreneur of India”. The session was organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day to celebrate the hard work and efforts of women within the entrepreneurship ecosystem which has started to yield rewards. The prime objective of the webinar was to manifest the importance and necessity of women entrepreneurs in the contemporary society while simultaneously celebrating the efforts and successes of women.
Keynote objectives got addressed via an engaging session with the guest speakers, Sana Sharif and Sonia Swaroop Choksi, two women entrepreneurs,one of whom is aJamia alumnus.The founder of “The Beginning foundation” and an associate product manager of Paytm for two years and six months, Sana Sharif, is an alumnus of 2015 BA Psychology course. Educating the audiences about “The Beginning Foundation”, she delivered a talk on the importance of social welfare, especially for underprivileged women and children, while also focusing on the need for professional women training to inculcate experience and gain financial benefits, thereby making a case for social entrepreneurship as a viable career option.
CEO and Co-Founder of Match My Talent, a platform for finding people and creating access to information about art, culture, media, and entertainment across a scattered industry, Sonia Swaroop Choksi, is a filmmaker and entrepreneur with a Bachelor Degree in Commerce and a Diploma in Design. Through her platform, she emphasized the importance of creating visibility about diversity while also focusing on an authentic and verifiable data-driven approach in the domain of media and entertainment.
Her striking objectives justified her 15 years of experience as director and producer in Non-fiction cinema and content creation. The event was attended by Coordinators and Members of Institution’s Innovation Council, JMI and a large number of students. The event began at 4 pm via online mode and was attended by over 90+ students, thus achieving its objective of honoring women’s empowerment while educating about gender and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
