In Cricket, Indian bowlers came out all guns blazing to bundled out New Zealand for 235 runs on the second day of the second Test at Christchurch today.
India now has a first-innings lead of seven runs. The hosts started the day from 63 for no loss.
However, pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav supported by Ravindra Jadeja scalped wickets at regular intervals to balance the game in India’s favour.
Earlier, India were bowled out for 242 on day one as they lost wickets at quick succession. Pacer Kyle Jamieson triggered the collapse, returning impressive figures of 45 for five.
India lost the last five wickets for 48 runs, of which 26 were contributed by last-wicket pair of Mohammed Shami 16 and Jasprit Bumrah 10. Hanuma Vihari top-scored for India with his combative 55 while Prithvi Shaw 54 and Cheteshwar Pujara 54 hit contrasting half-centuries.
New Zealand leads the two match series one-nil.
