Chief Secretary and newly appointed Chairman of the Rajasthan Integrated Development Corporation (RIDCOR), V. Srinivas, chaired a board meeting at the state secretariat on Wednesday to review ongoing maintenance and safety initiatives across RIDCOR’s road network. Officials presented a detailed assessment of routine upkeep, monsoon-related repair work and infrastructure improvements.
The review covered all road projects under RIDCOR, spanning a total of 1,450 kilometres. Officers informed the board that pothole repairs, restoration of rain-damaged stretches, removal of shrubs along road edges and other routine maintenance activities have been carried out across the network following monsoon deterioration.
While discussing road safety, officials outlined measures implemented at black spots. These include installation of rumble strips, zebra markings, speed breakers, blinkers and other road-furniture components. Awareness programmes on road safety, clearing of encroachments and vegetation, closure of unauthorised median cuts and reflective stickers on slow-moving vehicles were also highlighted. All 54 identified black spots across RIDCOR roads have been rectified, and no case is pending, the officials said.
Progress on Bhiwadi–Alwar Mega Highway Upgradation
The board reviewed the upgrade work underway between Bhiwadi Toll Plaza (km 221+350) and Tapukara (km 212+800), where the existing four-lane road is being expanded to six lanes. The project, sanctioned at ₹74.90 crore, is being funded jointly by the state government and RIICO in a 50:50 ratio. With RIICO’s approval of its contribution, tenders for civil works worth ₹46.57 crore and electrical utility shifting worth ₹5.98 crore have been received and are now under processing for implementation.
Proposal to Relocate Bhiwadi Toll Plaza
A proposal to shift the existing toll plaza on the Bhiwadi–Alwar Mega Highway from km 221+350 to Masit village at km 210+485 has been approved. The state government has issued administrative and financial sanction of ₹14.45 crore for land acquisition against the estimated project cost of ₹26.20 crore. Acquisition of an additional 0.809 hectares of land has begun, officials informed the meeting.
