The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls in Chhattisgarh is progressing at an advanced stage, with 98% of notices already heard and document verification continuing until February 14, 2026. The final electoral roll will be officially published on February 21, 2026, aiming to ensure a clean, transparent, and error-free voter list.
Conducted under the directions of the Election Commission of India with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, the revision process began with the publication of the draft electoral roll on December 23, 2025. The claim andises and objections submission phase was completed between December 23, 2025 and January 22, 2026, followed by hearings and document verification, which are currently underway.
During the enumeration stage, voters whose records could not be matched with the 2003 SIR electoral roll were issued notices by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to submit valid documents. Voters were given full opportunity to present any of the 13 documents approved by the Election Commission, after which EROs are taking final decisions on inclusion or exclusion from the electoral roll. The hearing and verification process will conclude by February 14, 2026.
During the claims and objections period, eligible citizens submitted Form 6 for inclusion, Form 8 for correction of details, and Form 7 for deletion or objection. To maintain transparency, weekly review meetings were held at the Assembly constituency level, where lists of claims and objections were shared with representatives of recognized political parties for scrutiny and feedback.
Officials clarified that rumours about arbitrary deletion of voter names are misleading. Under Section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, a voter’s name can only be removed under three specific conditions: death, permanent relocation, or duplicate entry.
With most hearings completed and verification nearing closure, the SIR 2026 process is set to strengthen electoral integrity, improve data accuracy, and ensure a transparent and inclusive voter list across Chhattisgarh.
