While most brands mark anniversaries with campaigns, discounts, or high-decibel media spends, CARS24, India’s leading autotech platform, took a different route for its 10th birthday. The company launched a nationwide civic initiative to repair over 500 potholes and restore more than 7,000 sq. ft. of damaged roads in high-traffic zones across India.
Executed quietly and completed this week, the effort targeted accident-prone areas and aimed to improve daily commutes for thousands. The idea came from a simple truth: for the last decade, roads have carried everything central to CARS24—its customers, cars, business, and journey. Yet, these same roads have also carried daily disruptions, from late arrivals and broken suspensions to delayed ambulances and missed school buses.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, India reported an average of 6,880 pothole-related accidents annually between 2013 and 2022. In 2022 alone, over 2,000 lives were lost to what is essentially a repairable flaw in infrastructure.
“Potholes are more than an inconvenience—they’re a daily disruption,” said Gajendra Jangid, Co-Founder, CARS24. “As a brand built on mobility, we’ve always been on the road. This was our way of giving back to it.”
Unlike many “purpose” campaigns reduced to clever taglines or fleeting hashtags, CARS24’s initiative delivered tangible, on-ground impact without demanding attention. The brand also installed witty, thought-provoking road signs to raise awareness. One read, “Don’t drink and drive. Someone is waiting at home.” Another: “Drive slow, this is not GTA.”
The initiative has been widely praised across LinkedIn, Instagram, and advertising circles as an example of action over optics—brand building rooted in service, not storytelling.
CARS24 confirmed that this is not a one-off. The pothole repair drive will continue in other cities under the Crashfree India program, evolving into a broader mobility infrastructure effort. This aligns with the brand’s long-term vision of “Better Drives, Better Lives”—not just enabling car ownership, but improving the everyday experience of mobility in India.
“Trust doesn’t come from telling people—it comes from doing the right thing,” Jangid added.
As CARS24 enters its next decade, the initiative reflects its ambition to connect not just cars with people, but companies with communities.
