On 16 October 2026, the top 20 Nifty losers showed modest declines. BSE posted the steepest percentage drop of the day at 1.73%, followed by HDFCLIFE and NESTLEIND. Several large-cap names closed lower with high traded values.
Steepest Declines Among Nifty Names
BSE fell 1.73% to an LTP of 3368.60 (previous close 3428). HDFCLIFE declined 1.55% to 542.00. NESTLEIND dropped 1.28% to 1259.50 and MAXHEALTH 1.26% to 847.15. JIOFIN closed 0.90% lower at 217.03 on elevated volume of 1.20 crore shares.
Other Notable Declines
TATACONSUM fell 0.85% to 983.05. SHRIRAMFIN declined 0.67% to 937.50. HINDUNILVR moved down 0.55% to 1886.60 and ITC 0.49% to 262.60. APOLLOHOSP and ASIANPAINT each closed 0.40% lower. RELIANCE declined 0.39% to 1210.30 with high value of about ₹1006 crore.
High-Value Large-Cap Activity
RELIANCE recorded the highest traded value among the top losers at approximately ₹1006 crore on volume of 83.55 lakh shares. BSE saw value of about ₹1070 crore. AXISBANK closed 0.08% lower at 1287.00 with value near ₹604 crore. KOTAKBANK declined 0.17% to 447.20 on volume of 1.09 crore shares. MARUTI, BEL, SUNPHARMA and INDIGO also featured among the lower-closing Nifty names with significant values.
