In a major anti-corruption action, the Vigilance Department of Bihar arrested a sub-inspector in Siwan district while he was accepting a bribe of ₹40,000. The accused, SI Kanhaiya Kumar Singh, was posted at Siswan Police Station and was caught red-handed during a trap operation.
According to officials, the case relates to a land dispute and assault incident reported on December 18, for which FIR No. 309/25 was registered at Siswan police station. SI Kanhaiya Kumar Singh was the investigating officer in the case. The complainant, Sunil Kumar, alleged that the sub-inspector demanded ₹40,000 in exchange for removing his sister’s name from the case diary.
Distressed by the demand, Sunil Kumar approached the Vigilance Department and lodged a formal complaint. After verification, the department registered Vigilance Case No. 170/25 and laid a trap. A vigilance team from Patna, led by DSP Viplav Kumar, conducted a raid at Bablu Tea Shop near Maharana Chowk in Siswan, where the sub-inspector was apprehended while accepting the bribe.
The accused officer is currently being interrogated, and further legal proceedings are underway. The action is being seen as a strong message against corruption within the police force.
