Bihar Election Results 2025 LIVE Updates: Counting of votes for the crucial Bihar Assembly elections began at 8 am today, and by 10:50 am the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had surged far ahead, leading in 190 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan trailed with 50.
The BJP has crossed the 50-mark and is leading in 80 constituencies, while the JD(U) is delivering one of its strongest performances, leading in 84 of the 101 seats it contested. Early trends place the NDA comfortably above the majority mark of 122, indicating a decisive mandate if the momentum holds.
RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial face, initially led in Raghopur but later began trailing, as per updated trends. His brother Tej Pratap Yadav is also trailing by more than 10,700 votes in Mahua. BJP’s first-time candidate and singer Maithili Thakur is leading in Alinagar.
The results will decide whether JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar—Bihar’s longest-serving chief minister—secures a fifth consecutive term or whether the opposition can stage an upset. Bihar recorded a historic 67.13% voter turnout across the two-phase polling held on November 6 and 11.
Most exit polls had predicted an NDA sweep, though Tejashwi Yadav had dismissed the forecasts, claiming the Mahagathbandhan would return to power with a “thumping majority.”
Key candidates in the fray include Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, JJD’s Tej Pratap, and Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar.
