The Bastar Olympic 2025 began with powerful emotion, cultural pride and an unmistakable message of progress. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, inaugurating the divisional-level event at Jagdalpur’s Indira Priyadarshini Stadium, told the gathering that their Chief Minister “belongs to the community… is like a brother… and the government stands beside you at every step.”
His words set the tone for an evening that blended sport, culture and the spirit of a region moving confidently towards peace and prosperity.
A Dazzling Opening: Seven Districts, One Energetic Marchpast
Athletes from all seven districts of Bastar division — along with participants from Nuwabat — presented a striking marchpast, leaving the audience captivated. The stadium roared with applause as teams showcased discipline, colour and the deep cultural identity of the region.
CM Sai formally lit the ceremonial torch, marking the official start of the divisional competitions.
“Bastar Is Moving Towards Peace and Prosperity”
Addressing thousands of spectators, the Chief Minister highlighted the transformation underway in the region.
He noted that development initiatives are reaching the remotest villages, helping Bastar transition towards peace, harmony and growth. The increasing participation of youth in sports, he said, is testament to a region eager to join the mainstream of progress.
He praised the strong participation of women — over 2.27 lakh female athletes registered this year — calling it a powerful indicator of Bastar’s rising journey of women’s empowerment.
A Vision for Youth: Bigger Platforms, Bigger Dreams
The Bastar Olympic is emerging as a key platform for rural talent. CM Sai assured athletes that the government is committed to training and supporting youth for national and international competitions.
He announced major incentives for global achievers:
Rs 3 crore for a Gold medal
Rs 2 crore for a Silver medal
Rs 1 crore for a Bronze medal
These rewards aim to inspire a new generation of champions from the heart of Chhattisgarh.
Deputy CMs Applaud the Initiative
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said the Olympics strengthen youth engagement not just in sports, but also in development. He emphasized upcoming efforts to upgrade sports infrastructure across Bastar.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma added that the event is a bridge between remote youth and the mainstream, ensuring wider opportunity and recognition for tribal athletes.
Mary Kom’s Presence Inspires Thousands
The presence of Padma Shri and international boxing icon Mary Kom added prestige to the event. She joined state ministers in encouraging players and celebrating the Olympic spirit of Bastar.
