Karad, January 2, 2026 (PIB Delhi) — A special programme titled ‘Bandhuta Parishad 2026’ along with an Aapulki Milan (fraternal meet) is being organised today at the historic Bhavani Maidan, Pantancha Kot, Somwar Peth in Karad to reaffirm the values of social unity and fraternity.
The event marks the 86th anniversary of a significant moment in history when Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, visited a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shakha in Karad on January 2, 1940. The programme will begin at 4:00 PM at the very site where the historic interaction took place.
Recalling the occasion, Dr. Ambedkar had said, “Despite differences on certain issues, I view the Sangh with a sense of belonging.” This statement was reported in Kesari (January 9, 1940) and the weekly Janta (January 20, 1940), and continues to be cited as an example of maintaining dialogue and fraternity despite ideological differences.
The event will be attended by Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, Maharashtra’s Public Works Minister, as the Chief Guest. Kishor Makwana, Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, will deliver the key address, while Padma Shri Milind Kamble, National Chairman of DICCI (Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), will be present as a special invitee.
