With India’s economy regaining momentum and consumer sentiment rebounding, construction activity across major cities has accelerated, driving a sharp rise in demand for building materials, according to the latest JD Mart Consumer Insights.
As per the report, searches for sand, mild steel (MS) pipes, and ready-mix concrete dealers have surged across Tier-I cities, with Chennai leading the demand across all categories on JD Mart, India’s B2B marketplace by Just Dial.
During the latest quarter, Tier-I cities recorded a 13% quarter-on-quarter growth in searches for sand dealers, 9% for MS pipes, and 8% for ready-mix concrete, indicating a strong revival in the real estate and construction sector post-pandemic. Demand in Tier-II cities remained stable, showing modest growth trends.
A JD Mart spokesperson said,
“We are witnessing a vibrant phase for construction activity, especially in Tier-I cities where residential projects are back in motion. The rising searches on JD Mart reflect not only economic recovery but also renewed consumer confidence and momentum in the infrastructure and construction space.”
Among Tier-I cities, Chennai, Mumbai, and Bengaluru topped searches for sand dealers, followed by Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. In Tier-II cities, Coimbatore, Patna, Visakhapatnam, Mysore, and Goa generated the highest interest.
For MS pipe dealers, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru led the demand, while Coimbatore, Indore, Nagpur, Jaipur, and Patna dominated among Tier-II cities. Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai saw the highest searches for ready-mix concrete, followed closely by Delhi and Mumbai.
