Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that an Agriculture-Based Regional Industry Conclave will be organized in Burhanpur to accelerate agro-industrial growth and strengthen the vision of a self-reliant and developed Madhya Pradesh. He said the government is ensuring participation of every citizen in the state’s development and reaffirmed that inclusive growth remains its top priority.
Addressing a public event in Burhanpur, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 80 development projects worth about Rs 696.37 crore, giving fresh momentum to the district’s overall progress. He also inaugurated a development exhibition showcasing achievements and future plans of agriculture, horticulture, and other departments.
Key Announcements for Burhanpur
Dr. Yadav made several major announcements aimed at boosting infrastructure, agriculture, and industry in the district:
A mini airport will be developed in Burhanpur.
An agriculture-based regional industry conclave will be organized.
A value addition, storage, and processing unit for banana producers will be established.
Shahpur Nagar Parishad will be upgraded to a Municipality after due assessment.
A Kirtan Centre for the Warkari community will be set up.
Skill-based training programs for youth will be launched.
Pending dues of Burhanpur Cooperative Spinning Mill workers will be cleared.
New industries and businesses will be established in the district.
He also announced expansion of horticulture education across colleges in the state and construction of key regional roads.
Focus on Inclusive and Regional Development
The Chief Minister said the government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach every corner of the state. He emphasized that Burhanpur’s progress is a priority and will be achieved with active public participation.
Highlighting the district’s economic strength, he described Burhanpur as a major powerloom and textile hub, popularly known as the “City of Weavers.” He noted that the district plays a significant role in cotton cultivation and textile production, while banana farming and crop diversification continue to strengthen farmers’ income and the local economy. The government will further expand processing, storage, and export infrastructure for key products like banana and cotton.
Dr. Yadav also stated that the latest installment under the Ladli Behna scheme has been transferred to over 12.5 million women beneficiaries across Madhya Pradesh, reinforcing the government’s focus on welfare and inclusive growth.
