A team of five students from the Goa Institute of Management (GIM) won the prestigious 2022 Flourish Prize for their story on water sustainability, emerging among 685 entries submitted from across the world.
The winning story, titled “Every Drop Counts,” was recognised under United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6): Clean Water and Sanitation.
The project was authored by GIM students Jatin Tripathi, Kushagra Bansal, Akash Ghosh, Srikaran Shenvi Sursure and Anushkar Chauhan and was guided and mentored by Divya Singhal, Professor of General Management and Economics at GIM.
The Flourish Prize is part of AIM2Flourish, a global student initiative of the Fowler Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management. The programme encourages students to identify business innovations contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, interview business leaders and develop stories documenting their impact.
GIM Students' Winning Story Focused on Water Recycling Innovation
The winning story featured Absolute Water Pvt. Ltd., a Delhi-based green technology company working in the water management sector.
According to the original case study, the company has developed a 100% green water recovery plant and works on converting sewage water into drinking water. Its treatment processes include advanced disinfection technologies such as ozonation.
The GIM students' project highlighted how business-led water management solutions can contribute to addressing water pollution and improving access to treated water.
Four GIM Teams Selected as Flourish Prize Finalists
A total of four teams from GIM were selected as finalists from the 685 global entries submitted for the 2022 Flourish Prize.
The institute had also previously won recognition in the competition. In the earlier edition, a GIM student team developed a story on Jaipur Rugs and its impact on artisan livelihoods, which was recognised under SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
