About Shikhar Sammelan:
Shikhar Sammelan is a platform that deliberates on the fundamentally pertinent issues that are of significance to the common man. It provides an opportunity to both the government and the opposition to debate on the challenges and the way forward for the country.
Key highlights:
- Devendra Fadnavis (Chief Minister of Maharashtra) –
“The decision to build a metro shed in Aarey was made with thought. The Supreme Court has also admitted that Aare Colony is not a forest area. I am also sad to cut trees there. Since the decision to cut trees in 2015, we have planted 30 thousand trees till now. We had planted 23 thousand trees even before cutting trees. I face everyone’s concern on the saw. “He said,” Shiv Sena is opposing cutting of trees in the saw, this is the question you should ask the Shiv Sena. I could not convince Shiv Sena.” Fadnavis said, “If one day’s work of the metro stops, then there is a loss of five crore rupees.”
- Raj Thackeray (President, Maharashtra Navnirma Sena) –
“Aditya’s decision to contest is there and I support it.” He has suggested that no member of MNS will contest against Aditya Thackeray at Worli.
- Sanjay Nirupam (Senior Congress leader) –
“Some party leaders were plotting against Rahul Gandhi. I do not want to take names, but everyone knows the names of those leaders. A lot of things happening in Congress are going wrong. The party should bring everyone together and think why this is happening.”
- Bhupendra Yadav (BJP, General Secretary) –
“BJP can get a clear majority on its own. Even if got the majority alone, I will keep everyone together. We work in the interest of the country. We take every decision unanimously.” This statement dismissed reports of a ruckus with the Shiv Sena.
- Priyanka Chaturvedi (Spokesperson, Shiv Sena)–
“Congress must learn the lesson of nationalism because they took the matter of Kashmir to Britain, Congress has forgotten its ideology and hence is committing the crime of being a traitor. I should no more be associated with congress as I am now an integral part of Shiv Sena.”
