The Chhattisgarh government has approved ₹45.83 crore for construction works under the Sonkchhar Reservoir Project in Gaurela block of Gaurela–Pendra–Marwahi district, aiming to strengthen irrigation infrastructure in the region.
According to the Water Resources Department, the project will provide assured irrigation to nearly 800 hectares during the kharif season and another 800 hectares in the rabi season, benefiting farmers across the surrounding areas.
Administrative approval for the project has been issued from the Water Resources Department at Mahanadi Bhavan, Mantralaya. The construction work will be executed under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, Hasdeo Kachhar Water Resources Department, Bilaspur.
