3×3 Basketball is the No.1 Urban team sport in the World as embraced by IOC (International Olympic Committee). It is not only FIBA’s (International Basketball Federation) second official discipline but it will also be played in Tokyo 2020 at the Olympics and the Common Wealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
In 2018, YKBK Enterprise Pvt. Ltd. successfully hosted the 1st Season of 3BL in PAN India. The rounds were hosted in 6 cities with 12 teams. The top 3 teams namely Delhi 3BL, Bangalore 3BL & Hyderabad 3BL, qualified for the 3×3 World Tour Masters. After which Delhi 3BL victoriously made their way up-to the 3×3 World Tour Finals and finished 9th ranked in the World.
To develop more players, 3BL is now proud to announce the First ever FIBA 3×3 academy in Gurgaon, Haryana. Along with FIBA 3×3 clinic, FIBA 3×3 academy, 3BL is also organizing the 1stever FIBA 3×3 summer camp under the esteemed leadership of the 3BL commissioner Mr. Rohit Bakshi.
These events would be mentored by India’s Basketball super star, Amjyot Singh Gill (NBA G League), Inderbir SinghGill (FIBA 3×3 Professional Player) and Bikramjit Gill (FIBA 3×3 Professional Player). The man behind the grand success of the 3×3 concept in India is the 3BL League Commissioner Mr. Rohit Bakshi, who has been a Basketball player himself and has been an inspiration to many upcoming players in the country and abroad.
In his word- “The concept of a full fledged academy in India by 3BL is a start to the very basketball culture that has been restricted in the urban cities. Basketball has been the most played sport in the country for years and to develop it as a professional sport required the much needed infrastructure and planning. This led us to come up with 1st FIBA 3×3 Academy to nurture, nourish and formulate the talents across the nation.”
While such initiatives are a boost to basketball players who are looking to make a professional career in the sport, it also addresses the scarcity of a full fledged infrastructure and a FIBA platform for giving access to the players at the International as well as the National Level.
3BL is also on the verge of hosting the Season 2 of 3×3 Pro Basketball League in India tentatively from the end of July 2019, which would be picking up talents from across these events. With such initiatives on the go, we can now surely look forward to the very upcoming Basketball boom in the country, which may just be the next big thing.
