The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), in association with the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and the Government of Meghalaya, will organize the 22nd National Conference on e-Governance on August 8-9, 2019, in Shillong, Meghalaya. This marks the first time that the conference is being held in the North-Eastern region of the country.
The conference serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices in designing and implementing sustainable e-Governance initiatives, facilitating end-to-end digital service delivery, exchanging experiences, addressing challenges, mitigating risks, and planning for future success. The announcement was made during a press conference addressed by Shri P. S. Thangkhiew, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, and Shri V. Srinivas, Additional Secretary, DARPG. The conference is also part of DARPG’s 100-day initiatives under the new Government.
The theme of the conference is “Digital India: Success to Excellence.” Discussions will focus on key areas including India Enterprise Architecture (INDEA), Digital Infrastructure, One Nation–One Platform, Emerging Technologies for Practitioners, Secretariat Reforms, and the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA). In addition, breakout sessions will cover Inclusion and Capacity Building, Engagement with Innovators and Industry, and End-to-End Digital Services, highlighting IT initiatives undertaken by State Governments.
A total of 28 States and 8 Union Territories have confirmed participation, with over 450 delegates expected to attend. An exhibition showcasing India’s achievements in e-Governance, along with a Hall of Fame and photo exhibition featuring award winners, will also be organized during the event.
According to Shri P. S. Thangkhiew, the conference will be inaugurated by Shri Conrad Kongkal Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, and Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, and Department of Space. Shri Hamletson Dohling, Minister of Information Technology & Communication and Urban Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, will also address the inaugural session.
Senior officials from the Government of India, including Shri K. V. Eapen, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, and Shri Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, will participate in the conference. Fifteen States will present their IT initiatives and success stories during the breakout sessions.
Shri V. Srinivas, Additional Secretary, DARPG, said that the conference would provide significant momentum to e-Governance initiatives in the North-Eastern region and offer a valuable platform for civil servants and industry leaders to showcase successful interventions that have improved end-to-end service delivery.
