Workshop on Audio Description for Accessible Cinema
Ability Foundation is organizing a two-day workshop on Audio Description on 6–7 September 2019 in Chennai, inviting participation from filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers.
The workshop will be conducted by an internationally recognised expert in audio description and is positioned as a landmark learning initiative focused on making cinema more accessible for persons with disabilities.
Audio description is an accessibility technique that enhances the film-viewing experience for people who are blind or have low vision. While dialogue conveys part of the story, audio description narrates visual elements such as actions, expressions, settings, and on-screen details, enabling fuller comprehension of the film.
The initiative aims to advance inclusive and accessible cinema, allowing visually impaired audiences to experience movies more completely by converting visual storytelling into descriptive audio narratives.
