The 15th Pension Adalat, held on 24 December 2025 at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi, brought into focus the Government of India’s commitment to the speedy resolution of grievances and ensuring the dignity and financial security of pensioners. The Pension Adalat was chaired by Dr. Rachna Shah, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), and Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW).
During the Adalat, 1,087 grievances of super senior citizens and family pensioners from 30 ministries and departments, including Defence, Home Affairs, Finance, Posts, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Civil Aviation, were taken up for hearing. Of these, 815 grievances were resolved on the spot, reflecting the system’s efficiency in delivering timely justice to pensioners.
A follow-up meeting was held on 16 January 2026 to review the status of unresolved cases. Post this meeting, several heartening success stories emerged, showcasing the struggles of pensioners and the pivotal role played by the Pension Adalat in providing relief.
Key Success Stories
Shri Pawan Kumar Gupta (Uttar Pradesh)
A resident of Tema village in Basti district, Shri Pawan Kumar Gupta had a grievance pending for over 100 days regarding the payment of his NPS corpus, following his medical retirement on 20 March 2023. After participating in the Pension Adalat via video conferencing, BSF officials confirmed during the follow-up meeting that the case had been resolved and a payment of ₹10.35 lakh had been released.
Shri Rasika Diggi (Jharkhand)
Shri Rasika Diggi from West Singhbhum district had his pension restoration grievance pending for over 200 days. His pension had remained discontinued for 17 years, from November 2007, due to non-submission of a life certificate. Following deliberations in the Pension Adalat, CRPF officials reported that the issue had been resolved and an amount of ₹41.00 lakh had been paid.
Ms. Pramila Thapa
Ms. Pramila Thapa, the unmarried differently-abled daughter of late Shri Sanjay Gurung, had not received family pension since November 2018. Her brother represented her case through video conferencing during the Adalat. After the follow-up on 16 January 2026, SSB released arrears of ₹12.78 lakh and commenced her regular monthly pension.
Shri Naseem Akhtar (Jammu & Kashmir)
The grievance of Shri Naseem Akhtar regarding LTC payments for the period November 2008 to July 2020 remained unresolved even after nine months. His son participated in the proceedings via video conferencing. Following the Adalat and subsequent follow-up, officials confirmed the release of ₹21,14,991.
