New Delhi, October 28: A number of programmes were organised on the second day of 104th Foundation Day Celebrationof Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) which began on 27th October, 2024. The three-day celebration will culminate on 29th October. JMI was founded on 29th October, 1920 in Aligarh, UP and shifted to Delhi in 1925.
On 28th October, the Department of Persian organised a one-day National Seminar on "Founders of Jamia" at Mir Anis Hall of the university. Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif was the Chief Guest of the inaugural session. This was the first programme he has attended after joining the university as the Vice Chancellor.
During his address which was mainly in Persian language, the Vice Chancellor highlighted roles of legendary founders of JMI in establishing and nurturing the historical institution. He emphasized on the role of teachers in shaping an institution. A university is a place where students learn good manners, courtesy, respect, and appropriateness. He stressed that a Vice Chancellor's role is to help in executing the vision of its faculty members.
A number of other events were organised in different departments of the varsity and Jamia Schools. A free Physiotherapy Camp was organised by the CPRS. Faculty of Dentistry celebrated Foundation Day by organising an Oral Health Screening Camp and an Oral Health Exhibition. The dental check-up camp was organised in mobile dental bus in the premises of the Faculty of Dentistry. Psychological Assesment & Counselling of students, a Blood Donation Camp by NSS, Literary readings of Women author by Gender Champion Clubs & Literary Club, Photography and Painting Exibition by B.Arch students of Faculty of Architecture & Ekistics, Extension Lecture in Department of Architecture, Lecture on “Role of Jamia in Nationa Building” in Faculty of Law, Public Lecture on Mental Health, performance by Char Yaar- Music Club (Band) and Ghalib with modern poets by Drama Club were organized at the university.
Under 'Dastan-e-Jamia' title, Debate Competition, Baitbazi, Ghazal Sarai and a Book Exhibition was organised in the Multipurpose Hall of Jamia Senior Secondary School.
The Department of Social Work in collaboration with Men Against Violence and Abuse hosts Film Screening and Panel Discussion on Gender Justice on its 104th Foundation Day
The Foundation Day function kicked off on 27th October with vibrant school programs, a friendly cricket match between staff and students of the school.
The main events of the Foundation Day celebration will be held on 29th October, 2024.
