The Ministry of Women and Child Development will felicitate States and districts that have demonstrated outstanding performance under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme at an award ceremony in New Delhi on August 7, 2019.
The awards will recognise achievements in improving the Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) and excellence in awareness generation and outreach activities. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani will attend the event as chief guest, while Debasree Chaudhuri will be the guest of honour.
Launched in January 2015, the BBBP scheme is currently implemented across 640 districts nationwide. Of these, 405 districts receive direct central support for multi-sectoral interventions aimed at improving the status of the girl child.
During the event, five States and ten districts will be honoured for consistent improvement in Sex Ratio at Birth, while ten additional districts will be recognised for exceptional awareness and outreach initiatives. The programme will also showcase innovative interventions undertaken by award-winning States and districts.
