Lucknow, February 11, 2026 — The Uttar Pradesh government, in Budget 2026-27, unveiled a massive infrastructure and public-service expansion plan with major allocations for energy, water supply, roads and transmission capacity, aimed at strengthening rural access, industrial growth and basic services across the state.
Power & Energy Expansion
The government proposed ₹65,926 crore for the energy sector, marking an 8% increase over 2025-26. Power supply has improved significantly, with average electricity availability reaching 19 hours in rural areas, 21 hours 49 minutes at tehsil headquarters, and 24 hours at district headquarters (till December 2025).
Between April 2022 and December 2025, 2,41,088 private tubewell connections were issued, while 1,66,135 connections were provided under the general scheme since 2017-18.
Under the agricultural feeder programme, 4,048 feeders have been completed against a target of 4,680, ensuring 10 hours of electricity supply for farming — among the highest in the country.
Power infrastructure also saw major expansion. Since April 2022, 2,410 new 33/11 KV substations were built or upgraded, 20,924 new distribution transformers installed, and 85,684 transformers upgraded. Transmission capacity increased 82% from 17,890 MW in 2016-17 to 32,500 MW in 2025-26.
Namami Gange & Rural Water Supply
The budget allocated ₹22,676 crore for Namami Gange and rural drinking water projects. Against a target of providing functional household tap connections to 2.67 crore rural families, the state has already delivered connections to 2.43 crore households.
For Jal Jeevan Mission, ₹22,452 crore has been proposed for FY 2026-27. To keep the Ganga pollution-free and stop untreated discharge, 74 sewerage projects have been approved, with 41 completed and operational, while the rest remain under construction.
Roads, Bridges & Urban Connectivity
The government earmarked ₹34,468 crore for roads and bridge infrastructure, focusing on construction, widening and maintenance. Key allocations include:
₹400 crore for North-South Corridor development
₹4,808 crore for bridges
₹1,700 crore for rail over/under bridges
₹3,700 crore for state and district road strengthening
₹3,000 crore for road maintenance (State Road Fund)
₹3,000 crore for road construction and widening
₹1,500 crore for urban bypasses, ring roads and flyovers
₹1,000 crore for roads supporting industrial and logistics parks
The budget signals a strong push toward reliable electricity, clean water access, and large-scale infrastructure expansion, aimed at boosting economic growth, rural development and urban mobility across Uttar Pradesh.
