Junagadh, India – May 2, 2026 : At least two passengers were killed and 15 others sustained injuries after a bus carrying pilgrims overturned in Gujarat's Junagadh district early Saturday afternoon. The bus was reportedly en route to a local shrine when the driver lost control of the vehicle near a sharp curve.
Local police confirmed that the injured were rushed to the Junagadh Civil Hospital, where four are said to be in critical condition. Preliminary investigations suggest the accident may have been caused by a mechanical failure in the steering system, though eyewitnesses alleged the vehicle was overspeeding. Gujarat Chief Minister’s office has announced an ex-gratia payment for the families of the deceased and assured that the state will bear the medical expenses of the injured.
