According to information, the attack occurred near Janda Nala in the Lohai Malhar area of the hilly Kandi region of Kathua district. Terrorists attacked an army vehicle while the army team was conducting a routine patrol in the area. Suddenly, the vehicle was fired upon, and a grenade was thrown, leading to the martyrdom of four soldiers. After the attack, the terrorists fled towards the forest.
The soldiers responded promptly, leading to an exchange of fire. Both sides engaged in gunfire. After the terrorists fled into the forest, the area was cordoned off, and the surrounding access routes were put on alert. With two incidents occurring in Kathua within 27 days, it is believed that terrorists are present in the area. The region where the attack took place is connected to Himachal Pradesh on one side and Punjab on the other. It is currently difficult to determine whether the attacking terrorists recently infiltrated or have been active in the area for some time.
On Sunday, a soldier was injured in an attack on an army camp in Rajouri district. This is also considered an attack. Before that, on Saturday, two encounters began in Kulgam district, which concluded on Sunday. In this operation, the army killed six terrorists, but two soldiers were also martyred. Earlier, on June 26, three terrorists were killed in Doda, and on June 9, terrorists targeted a tourist bus in Reasi district.
