Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has informed inter-ministerial central team that the state incurred losses worth over 30,000 crore rupees due to flood and rain.
The seven-member central team headed by Joint Secretary in the ministry of home affairs Shri Prakash met the Chief Minister yesterday in Bengaluru. The team will be heading to the calamity hit Belagavi today to assess the damages caused by the calamity. It will be visiting other rain-affected places till coming Tuesday.
The Chief Minister has informed that 87 people lost their life, 2.3 lakh houses damaged, over 7.82 lakh hectares crop lost due to the calamity in 103 taluks across 22 districts in the state. He also added that over 2,828 bridges and 35,000 km of road infrastructure were damaged and the state government has released 309 crore rupees to take up relief measures.
