New Delhi, April 3, 2026:
Hours after the Aam Aadmi Party removed Raghav Chadha from the post of deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha and replaced him with Ashok Mittal, the young MP issued a sharp video message, saying he had been “silenced, not defeated.”
Silenced, not defeated
My message to the ‘aam aadmi’

In the video shared on X on Friday morning, Chadha questioned the party’s decision and suggested that his insistence on raising public-interest issues in Parliament may have led to the move. “Whenever I got an opportunity to speak in Parliament, I raised issues concerning common people. If speaking on public issues is a crime, then what exactly is my mistake?” he said.
The development follows AAP’s formal communication to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, informing it that Chadha had been removed from the deputy leader’s post and that speaking time from the party’s quota should no longer be allotted to him. Punjab MP Ashok Mittal has now been named as his replacement in the Upper House.
Without directly naming the party leadership, Chadha in his message asked why anyone would want to stop him from speaking when his interventions in Parliament have consistently focused on issues affecting ordinary citizens, including consumer concerns and middle-class financial burdens. His remarks are being seen as a rare public pushback against the party’s internal decision-making.
