The Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team has announced a five-member squad for the upcoming Baja Aragón 2019, scheduled to be held in Spain from July 25 to July 27.
The team comprises Dakar veteran Michael Metge (France), Lorenzo Santolino (Spain), and three Indian riders—Aravind KP, Harith Noah, and Aishwarya Pissay. The team will compete on the Sherco TVS RTR 450, the same machine used in Dakar Rally campaigns.
Aishwarya Pissay, currently leading the women’s category in the Baja World Championship, will be aiming for her maiden international title in the event.
Team Commentary
Speaking on the participation, B. Selvaraj, Team Manager, TVS Racing, said that the Baja Aragón offers valuable technical learning opportunities that help improve motorcycle performance and overall team capability. He also expressed confidence in the team’s lineup, particularly highlighting Aishwarya Pissay’s strong form in the championship.
Aravind KP said he was excited to return to international competition following Dakar and Merzouga Rally experiences, adding that racing alongside experienced international riders would be a valuable opportunity.
Harith Noah expressed gratitude for the team’s support and said he is physically and mentally prepared for the championship.
Aishwarya Pissay said the Baja Aragón has been an important platform in her career, having made her international rally debut at the event last year. She added that competing alongside seasoned international riders continues to enhance her learning and performance.
Rider Highlights
Aishwarya Pissay, a 23-year-old rider from Bengaluru, is currently leading the women’s category and holds second place in the junior category of the global championship standings. Lorenzo Santolino returns to competition after recovering from a Dakar 2019 injury. Michael Metge, a Dakar stage winner, and Aravind KP, the only Indian finisher at Dakar 2019, also bring strong experience to the squad.
Both Metge and Aravind previously competed in the Merzouga Rally, where they delivered strong performances.
