The arrival of delegates from South India for Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 continues, with a second group from Tamil Nadu reaching Varanasi late Wednesday night by a special train. The delegation largely comprised teachers.
As soon as the guests stepped onto the platform at Banaras Railway Station, they were greeted with a grand traditional welcome featuring damru drumming, a shower of flowers, and chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Vanakkam Kashi.”
Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’ and Varanasi Mayor Ashok Tiwari were present to receive the delegates. They warmly welcomed the visitors and highlighted the deep cultural and historical ties between Kashi and Tamil Nadu.
Members of the Tamil delegation expressed delight at the warm reception, saying the spiritual ambience and hospitality of Kashi made the moment unforgettable. The rhythmic damru beats filled the station with a devotional aura, symbolising the cultural harmony between Kashi and Tamil Nadu.
According to the event schedule, the delegates will visit the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham today for darshan and puja. They will also tour the Ganga ghats, prominent cultural locations, and key educational institutions across the city. The organising committee has curated special programs to help the guests experience Kashi’s rich heritage, art, culture, and spiritual legacy.
The Kashi Tamil Sangamam, now in its fourth edition, aims to revive and celebrate the ancient cultural, religious, and educational links between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. Representatives from diverse fields—including education, culture, literature, arts, and industry—are participating this year.
