NEW DELHI, April 2 Sara X Golf Code, staged a major upset, defeating group toppers SwingKKings on day-6 of the Delhi Golf Club Members League - powered by RADICO’ at the historic Delhi Golf Club here today. Sara X Golf Code tallied 9 points as against their opponent’s total of 5 points.
The second match of the day between Sara X Golf Code and SwingKKings started with Sara X Golf Code registering a win in the first two games. The third game was tied and Sara won the fourth right after. SwingKKings clearly had their backs to the wall. Three down with three to play meant they had to win all three remaining games. SwingKKings did make a valiant attempt, winning the fifth and sixth games, but the duo of Pratap S Atwal and Ishan Kapur of Sara, cruised to a win in the seventh game to take Sara X Golf Code to a well-deserved win.
In the clash between Athletic Drive and Dayal Opticals, Athletic Drive started with a win in the first game. Dayal pulled back to win the second. Stepping on the gas, Athletic Drive registered back-to-back wins in the third and fourth games. Sarvash Kalra and Pranay Puri showcased some attacking golf to win the fifth game and riding on that wave, Dayal Opticals registered a win in the sixth game as well to set up a clash in the seventh and final game. Athletic Drive had clearly saved the best for the last. They pulled a rabbit out of the hat to win the seventh game and tally 8 points, as against their opponent’s tally of 6 points.
The third match between Ardee Masters and Victorious Choice, saw Victorious Choice draw early blood with a win in the first game. This was followed by an unexpected attack from Ardee Masters, who won four games in a row. Wins in the sixth and seventh games for Victorious Choice was nothing more than a consolation prize, earning them 6 points. Ardee pocketed 8 points for their win.
The Birdie Machine vs Deutsche Motoren match saw Birdie Machine win the opening game. Deutsche Motoren however drew level with a win in the second game. The third game was tied but Deutsche Motoren riding on their new found form went on to win the fourth and fifth games to go two up. Birdie Machine then launched a magnificent fightback to win the sixth and seventh games to tie with their opponent at 7 point apiece.
In the final encounter of the day, Legends 9 tied the first hole with The A-Team. The A Team broke the ice with a win in the second game but Legends 9 won the third and fourth games to go one-up. The A-Team won the fifth game to level scored again. The sixth hole was halved but Legends 9 went on to win the seventh game to pocket 8 points. The A-Team had to settle for 6 points.
