UMEED 1000 Cyclothon team arrived in Jaipur and the flag off for the onward journey was done by Mr. Rajeev Dasot, D.G. Home Guards, Rajasthan, joined by K Narsimha Rao, ADGP, Rajasthan Police and Shanta Vallury Gandhi, Head – HR, CSR and Internal Branding, RBL Bank. The team of 35 cyclists were greeted to a grand and traditional welcome ceremony at RBL Bank branch upon their arrival. The 10 day journey of the cyclists commenced on 10th November, 2019 from IIM Udaipur Campus and will conclude on 20th November, 2019 at Amritsar.
‘UMEED 1000’, is an initiative by RBL Bank to contribute and raise funds for girl child education. The initiative has garnered funds in excess of INR 6 Crores in the past 5 years. 35 cyclists from RBL Bank are riding a stretch of 1000kms from Udaipur to Amritsar covering Jaipur, Ajmer, Delhi, Ludhiana and Jalandhar along the route. This initiative is being led by Jasmeet S. Gandhi, a cycling enthusiast, who is passionate about contributing towards education of girls, along with the 35 RBL Bank employees.
The cyclists are joined by around 200 male police officers of Haryana Police who will cycle the entire stretch of Haryana to raise awareness and funds for this cause. The initiative is actively and enthusiastically supported by Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi & Punjab Police throughout the course of 10 days.
The corpus raised through this initiative will be utilised to support the education of girl children in the schools run by ‘Udbhav School’. Udbhav School was started by IIMA Alumni who are spurred by the vision that all children should have the same opportunities. In the past, the funds raised were used in and supporting two schools in Hyderabad for underprivileged communities.

The 6th edition of UMEED 1000 Cyclothon is a testimony of our commitment towards this mission. We have progressed a step further in our endeavor by recently opening UDBHAV RBL School in Fatehnagar, Hyderabad. CSR at RBL Bank is not looked at as a mandate and hence when there was a need, our employees picked up the mantle and ventured on the 1000 kms journey to support the cause. We are indeed happy to be contributing towards creating a better future for the girls of our country”.
