In compliance with the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and the Government of Rajasthan, a successful mock drill and blackout exercise was conducted on Saturday under Operation SHIELD in the residential area of the Jaipur Military Station on Khatipura Road.
At exactly 8:15 PM on Saturday night, sirens sounded in Jaipur, signaling the start of the drill. Residents in designated areas—Jadunath Vihar, Bharatendu Nagar, Jaswant Nagar, and Khatipura—voluntarily turned off all their lights. During this time, under the leadership of Additional Police Commissioner Mr. Kunwar Rashtradeep, traffic police and other personnel encouraged citizens to adhere to the guidelines. Vehicle owners cooperated by pulling over and switching off their vehicle lights. The designated area successfully observed the blackout as part of Operation SHIELD.
District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni expressed his gratitude to the citizens for their sense of responsibility and active participation during the blackout.
Earlier, at 5:00 PM, sirens were sounded at the Jaipur Collectorate control room upon receiving simulated information of an air strike. The sirens prompted immediate action from the administration, police, and other concerned departments and agencies. District Collector Dr. Soni quickly reached the scene and personally monitored the entire exercise.
Divisional Commissioner Smt. Poonam and Additional Police Commissioner Mr. Kunwar Rashtradeep were also present at the site. Police cleared the entire ground. Fire brigade personnel took charge and successfully extinguished the fire in the building. Civil defense personnel demonstrated their skills by rescuing individuals trapped inside. Coordinating with health department officials, the injured were transported to local hospitals via ambulance. Simultaneously, personnel from ERT, SDRF, and ATS searched the premises and examined any suspicious objects.
Under the leadership of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, officials and staff from the district administration, police, civil defense, municipal corporation, SDRF, ERT, ATS, medical and health department, and other agencies demonstrated excellent coordination and cooperation. They responded swiftly and effectively, playing a crucial role in the successful execution of the mock drill and blackout under Operation SHIELD.
