Jaipur, April 9: Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani on Thursday constituted various House committees for the 2026–27 session of the 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, nominating their chairpersons and members.
The Speaker announced the formation of key committees including the Rules Committee, Questions and References Committee, Committee on Welfare of Women and Children, OBC Welfare Committee, SC Welfare Committee, ST Welfare Committee, Home, Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Committee, Library and Government Assurances Committee, Petitions and Ethics Committee, Privileges and Subordinate Legislation Committee, Minority Welfare and Environment Committee, and the General Purposes Committee.
Under the new structure, Speaker Vasudev Devnani will serve as the ex-officio Chairperson of the Rules Committee. Senior leaders including Vasundhara Raje, Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot, Harish Chaudhary, and Deepti Kiran Maheshwari have been nominated as members.
The Questions and References Committee will be chaired by Rajendra Pareek, while Kalpana Devi has been named Chairperson of the Women and Child Welfare Committee.
For social justice-focused panels, Narendra Budania will head the OBC Welfare Committee, Ramesh Khinchi the SC Welfare Committee, and Phool Singh Meena the ST Welfare Committee.
The Home, Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions Committee will be chaired by Dr Jaswant Singh Yadav, while Hari Singh Rawat has been appointed Chairperson of the Library and Government Assurances Committee.
The committee formation is seen as a key institutional step to ensure structured legislative scrutiny, welfare oversight, and smoother functioning of the Assembly during the financial year 2026–27.
