Jodhpur, June 23: Rajasthan's Principal Secretary for Medical, Health and Medical Education, Gayatri Rathore, has directed healthcare institutions across the state to give the highest priority to the health and well-being of pregnant and postpartum women.
During a review meeting held at Dr. Sampurnanand Medical College, Jodhpur, Rathore instructed officials to ensure regular health check-ups, haemoglobin testing, screening, and follow-up care for all pregnant and recently delivered women. Special emphasis was placed on identifying and closely monitoring women suffering from anaemia and other high-risk health conditions.
The state government also directed ASHA workers, Block Chief Medical Officers (BCMOs), and Reproductive and Child Health Officers (RCHOs) to strengthen tracking and coordination mechanisms for maternal healthcare services.
To improve healthcare delivery, hospitals have been asked to conduct regular self-audits and strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The review will cover the availability of medical staff, medicines, equipment, ICU facilities, operation theatres, and critical infrastructure, with instructions to address deficiencies promptly.
Ahead of the monsoon season, the department also ordered inspections of fire safety systems, electrical infrastructure, and other essential equipment to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services and patient safety.
The review reflects the Rajasthan government's continued focus on strengthening maternal healthcare outcomes and improving hospital preparedness across the state.
