Rajasthan Devasthan Department will facilitate free pilgrimage travel for 56,000 senior citizens under the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme 2026, including travel by rail and air to major religious destinations across India and Nepal.
According to Devasthan Commissioner Laxmi Narayan Mantri, the department will soon begin accepting fresh applications for the scheme, with details to be made available on the official website: Devasthan Rajasthan
Under the scheme:
- 50,000 senior citizens will travel via rail
- 6,000 beneficiaries will travel by air
- Citizens aged 60 years and above will be eligible
The initiative covers visits to 15 prominent pilgrimage destinations across the country. The scheme also includes free air travel to the Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal.
Additional Commissioner Gitesh Shri Malviya said applicants must be permanent residents of Rajasthan and can apply independently or through e-Mitra centers.
Required documents include:
- Jan Aadhaar Card
- Health certificate
- Self-declaration stating the applicant is not an income taxpayer and has not availed the scheme earlier
- Voter ID card
Beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery system from the received applications. The department said the application dates and further guidelines will be announced shortly.
