Notification Issued for Rajya Sabha Elections, Nomination Process Begins Today
Jaipur, February 8. Notification for the Rajya Sabha Biennial Elections 2024 was issued on Thursday, marking the commencement of the nomination filing process from February 8. Chief Election Officer Mr. Praveen Gupta stated that as per the designated schedule, nominations can be filed until February 15, 2024.
The Election Commission of India has appointed Mr. Mahaveer Prasad Sharma, Secretary of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, as the Returning Officer, and Mr. Suresh Chand Parik as the Assistant Returning Officer for the election process.
The Chief Election Officer mentioned that nomination papers can be submitted in the Legislative Assembly from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Candidates can obtain nomination forms from Room No. 110 of the Assembly, and these forms can be submitted in Room No. 106. In the absence of the Returning Officer, the Assistant Returning Officer will accept nomination papers.
Mr. Gupta further stated that the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on February 16 in Room No. 751 of the Legislative Assembly. Candidates can withdraw their names by February 20. If necessary, polling will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 27, with the counting of votes starting at 5 p.m. The election process will be completed by February 29.
It is noteworthy that the state will conduct elections for three seats in the Rajya Sabha, which are currently vacant and will be held on April 3, 2024.
