The world-famous Pushkar Fair 2025 commenced on Thursday with a grand inaugural ceremony marked by the traditional flag hoisting. Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Minister for Water Resources Suresh Singh Rawat officially inaugurated the fair by hoisting the ceremonial flag at the fairground.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari said that the Pushkar Fair represents Rajasthan’s rich cultural, spiritual, and tourism heritage. Recognizing its significance, the state government has increased the fair’s budget from ₹70 lakh to ₹1 crore to enhance facilities for domestic and international tourists and to make the event even more spectacular. She added that the DPR (Detailed Project Report) for the Pushkar Corridor has been completed, and its foundation stone will be laid soon.
She emphasized that the state government, under the vision of “Pushkar Forever”, is committed to giving the fair a global and permanent identity. Efforts are underway to develop Tirthraj Pushkar as an international pilgrimage tourism center through concrete and long-term planning. The objective is to ensure that every visitor experiences the unique blend of Rajasthan’s traditions, culture, and spirituality.
Highlighting the promotion of folk art and culture, the Deputy Chief Minister announced that a “Ghoomar Utsav” will be organized on November 19 at all divisional headquarters to celebrate traditional Rajasthani folk dance forms. She added that preserving and promoting folk and cultural heritage remains one of the top priorities of the state government.
Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat described the increased budget for the Pushkar Fair as a visionary step toward strengthening tourism promotion and improving local facilities. He said this decision would not only boost tourism in Pushkar but also create positive impacts on the local economy and employment opportunities. He urged visitors and residents to maintain cleanliness and discipline to make the fair memorable and successful, assuring that every guest would be welcomed with warmth and respect in the true spirit of Atithi Devo Bhava.
